Where Function Meets Fellowship
When Lakes Area Vineyard Church began upgrading their space, they were searching for a solution that would allow the kitchen and sanctuary to work together more seamlessly. They needed a way to connect the two areas when serving refreshments, yet easily transition into a distraction-free zone once the service commenced. The goal was to have the functionality of a commercial kitchen with the warmth of a residential design.
A custom 12′ 6″ x 3′ 6″ glass bi-fold counter door was the perfect way to build a space that felt both purposeful and inviting.
During serving times, the door folds up to transform the kitchen island into a welcoming station for coffee and treats. This layout naturally draws people in, creating an effortless connection between the two rooms. Most importantly, it encourages conversation and community.
The greatest benefit, though, is apparent when the service starts. Overflow seating often extends to the kitchen, making noise control essential. Closing the door creates a quiet barrier and the frosted glass softens visuals, keeping sound and activity in the kitchen to a minimum. Which means volunteers can begin cleaning up without having to worry about disrupting anyone, and nearby guests can remain fully present.
Beyond the practical benefits, Lakes Area Vineyard Church appreciates the door’s ease of use and thoughtful design. The smooth operation makes shifting between activities quick and intuitive. In addition, they value the clean, concealed hardware that blends into the surrounding finishes, offering a refined look without the industrial feel of a traditional door system.
With one well-chosen solution, this church gained the flexibility to have an open serving area when needed and a quieter, more focused worship environment when it matters most. The bi-fold counter door not only supports their functional needs but also enhances the overall experience for everyone who walks through their doors.
